Good points, and are definitely one side of the story. In my experience I've found a blinding light is difficult to shoot at and you don't have to point the weapon directly at the target to illuminate it... Quickly turning the light on and moving (as you should be doing anyway to avoid being a target) lets you identify and avoid be a target.seamusTX wrote:I agree that you must always identify your target.
I'm not a fan of weapon-mounted lights because (a) they make you a target, and (b) to use them, you must point your weapon at an unknown target.
Many alternatives have been discussed, including motion-activated lights and the simple expedient of rolling a flashlight down the hallway.
Some couples also have code words.
