So...Our Military is The "Enemy Camp"?

Post by longhorn_92 »

The putrid host of MSNBC's Hardball uttered yet another drunken slur last night - this time he called the military academy at West Point the "enemy camp." Thought that was it? He later went on to call former Vice President Dick Cheney a "troll." Something must be in the water at the left-wing, state-run media outlet at MSNBC that causes Chris Matthews to jump off script and get thrills up his leg.

So is Chris Matthews calling our armed forces at West Point the real enemies? And not the terrorists in Afghanistan?

Although he later apologized, this was an incredibly poor choice of words to describe an elite military academy. Matthews mentioned how the cadets showed resentment and skepticism during the speech - this was a presidential address about war, not a propagandist speech, so of course the cadets were listening carefully to President Obama, even if he is their undocumented Commander in Chief.

But Matthews' lash out against Dick Cheney was pure ridiculousness.

"Does he ever stop? He's crawled troll-like out from under his bridge to say that President Obama is projecting weakness to our enemies....But he is really tough. I compare him to the troll that comes out from under the bridge and bites the ankle of the kid crossing."

What a creep. No wonder MSNBC's ratings are in the tank.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I have DirecTV and they have this fancy little "Active" button on the remote that allows you to see what the top 5 programs everyone is watching, organized by time zone, national, sports and movies. More often than not, Fox News is in that top 5. Give it some more time, MSNBC and the likes will go by the wayside for some real jounalism.

DirecTV doesn't have any idea what I'm watching: I haven't plugged either of my receivers into a phone line in about 3 years.

I didn't hear the "Troll" comment, but I thought the "enemy camp" was a reference to the cold reception Obama gets from the military. I also thought I'd heard of reports where the troops have had to be told to be nice to him. Clearly, without actually hearing the whole thing from C.M. I didn't get the rest of his statements or the tone, but I thought that one little comment was funny. I did not think he was comparing our military to the taliban or al-queda. I thought he was saying that the cold reception was as an indicator of their approval of Obama.

Now, having said that, I followed every order given to me by my superiors in the Navy. There were several higher ranking individuals and O's that I absolutely did not like or respect, but they didn't really know that since I did everything I was ordered to do without complaint. I think our military will follow every lawful order they are given despite their personal opinions of whoever the President is.

As far as commentators like Chris Matthews are concerned, America is the Enemy Camp.

(Based on his behavior and actions, it wouldn't surprise me if Obama thinks it is for him, too.)

Troll. That is priceless. I personally think that it is a great compliment for the likes of Dick Cheney. I never could stand him. Please don't assume the fallacy that because I despise Dick Cheney that I support BO. I don't.

I don't think you'll have to worry about MSNBC very much longer. GE ran it into the ground as their mode of support for Obama and now Comcast is going to own it.
GE must see the writing on the E-wall.
:biggrinjester:
I am sure Comcast will pull back from all the bashing of the "Right" and less support of the "Left".

Manufactured outrage is so passé.

I love these days how people can get so easily worked up whenever someone says something.
Especially if that person (Chris Matthews) is an idiot. It's about as silly as people getting angry at Glenn Beck when he said, "Al Gore's not going to be rounding up Jews and exterminating them." You expect stupid, attention seeking people like the two of them to say stupid, attention seeking things.

Except that Glenn Beck defending Al Gore as not being anti-semitic is a rational and nonpartisan thing to say, and it indicates that his disagreements with Gore over global warming are a policy issue and based on what he has learned about the science, not on a belief that Gore is some kind of Nazi.

Conversely, Matthews' statement betrays a glaringly obvious animus against the military because he really does think of them as the enemy of the administration — in whose posterior Matthews' nose is firmly planted.

The first is a disagreement with a fellow American over a policy issue. The second is a distrust of an entire class of people who agreed to serve the nation, often at great personal risk to their lives, at a lower rate of pay than their civilian counterparts, and who swore an oath to defend the Constitution against ALL enemies, foreign and domestic. Matthews is not worthy to carry their jockey shorts.

It is condescending as heck when you call conservative outrage "manufactured," and thereby dismiss and disrespect the honestly held opinions of your fellow Americans. That's nonsense. Outrage is what it is. You don't have to agree with it, but that doesn't mean that the outrage is phony just because you don't share it.

I don't call conservative outrage manufactured; I call the crap coming from the media manufactured, which it is.

There's plenty to be outraged about.

Our budget, our tax situation, our steadily eroding freedoms, the inability of our country to compete in the global economy, these are all things to be outraged about.

What some moron on TV says doesn't even make the top 100. If you let these kinds of things outrage you, you're taking your eye off the ball. That's ultimately the point I was trying (maybe poorly) to make.

if I was a hardcore Democrat (which I aint) and I was going to give a speech at the Mostly Conservative Military Academy I could say that as far as Political beliefs go then yes they are the "Enemy Camp".

If Obama gave a Speech at the GOP Headquarters would you call that the Enemy Camp?

This is a B-S story and its people looking for outrage.

Heck look at the OP post, he calls MSNBC a "left-wing, state-run media outlet at MSNBC " clearly not a rational statement. I thought FOX (fixed from CNN) was a "Right-wing, state-run media outlet" or does that only apply when a Republican is in office "rlol"

The "Outrage" will continue for Real reasons or not.
There is plenty to get MAD about in Government.

Come on people you arent helping yourself or your "side" with this stuff. Its like the Liberals and Bush "Stealing" the election, its bull that further drives people apart

Some people prefer outrage over resolution. Its easier and its harder to fail at than resolution.

I am resolved to become outraged at some time to be determined in the future.
