Steven Seagal uses a 1911 - "LAWMAN"

Post by AEA »

The subject line confirms that this is gun related........

New show on A&E last night - Steven Seagal Lawman.

He is apparently a Chief Deputy (two stars on shoulder) in the Reserves of the Jefferson Parish Louisiana Sheriff's Office, and has been for 20 years!

Note: edited - had Captain but was informed and then remembered he is a Chief Deputy.

The pilots (2 episodes) of the show were pretty good actually as he and others chase crooks mostly at night. During the daytime, he instructs other Deputies in self defense (moves) and weapon retention.

He was also on a couple of ranges and had a whole table of 1911's laid out that he was using. He made some good shots, but I think he was really close to the target. Looked like he was right up on it.

Finally, he has gained a lot of weight! Frankly he is a fat pig (no pun intended)! During the minimal hand to hand demonstrations he was sweating so much that I thought he was going to have a heart attack! But, he was talking about "Zen" so I guess he will be OK.......

Anybody else see these last night? Comments?

Replays of these two episodes are set for tonight (Thursday) on A&E at 10pm CT.

Remember, the camera adds 10 lbs, and the vest will also make you look much bigger. Yeah, he has put on a couple of pounds, but I think he can still take you or me in a fight. ;-)

Or at least the bottom information line said "Reserve Chief Segal" or something at one point.
He is Deputy Chief Seagal. He apparently the Chief Deputy for the Reserve unit of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. Here is info on the show http://www.aetv.com/steven-seagal-lawman/about/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and a BIO page for the officers including Seagal http://www.aetv.com/steven-seagal-lawman/meet-officers/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Here is a video clip from the A&E website that shows him and the other officers in plain clothes shooting some steel plates. They were shooting from 10 yards per the video. He is apparently a better shot than the others (or editing makes him a better shot since he is the 'star' LOL.)

However, the level of shooting I saw in that clip is pretty indicative of an average LEO that spends little to no time on the range except for qualifying once or twice a year.

I just want to know how he was holding the pistol: Straight up, or on it's side? :smilelol5:

If I learned that his frequent press checks, using the middle finger I believe, were done with a full power recoil spring, then I would be truly impressed!

I've always suspected that the springs used were only strong enough to move the slide.

From Wikipedia:
As of May 2008[update], all of the films Seagal has made since the second half of 2001 have been released direct-to-video (DTV) in North America, with only limited theatrical releases in the rest of the world. Though Seagal is credited as a producer (and sometimes a writer) on many of these DTV movies, it is unclear how deeply involved he was in their production - his voice is often dubbed in by another actor as seen in the film Attack Force and a double is used in almost any scene where his face is not shown clearly. The most notable stunt doubles are in his films Black Dawn, Belly of the Beast, Out of Reach and Submerged. One of his most recent films, Kill Switch (2008), also featured extensive fight-double footage added in post-production.
and
Seagal is currently a deputy sheriff of his home community of Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. In November 2008, A&E announced that they have begun taping Steven Seagal: Lawman, a reality show that follows his on- and off-duty work in the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office. The series premiered on A&E on December 2, 2009. Seagal stated that "I’ve decided to work with A&E on this series now because I believe it’s important to show the nation all the positive work being accomplished here in Louisiana—to see the passion and commitment that comes from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office in this post-Katrina environment." Steven Seagal: Lawman premier drew 3.6 million viewers ranking as best season opener for any original A&E series ever.[14]
I really like his earlier movies, but seldom waste the time to watch these later non-efforts.

Really he said all he needed to say at the end, that he goes to the range alot of shoots alot.
Thats all it takes.

Am I the only one who thinks if some of the cops extended their arms fully they would have done better?

he's pretty discerning when it comes to the 1911 and knows how to drive them pretty darned well, too.
