Any idea when DPS will produce the 12/31/09 CHL stats?

IIRC, the DPS publishes the new CHL stats as of 12/31 every year.

Does anyone have any idea how long it will take the DPS to publish
the stats for all the new CHL's that were granted plastic during
calendar year 2009? Jan 15, Jan 31, longer?

I'm curious as well SIA. I check the DPS website about 3 or 4 times per week just looking for the stats.

As their fiscal year ends on Aug. 31, I would have thought they would have published it by now, but naught to be.

No, you're not hallucinating. They publish both dates, for licenses issued.

To explain, some stats are reported based on the calendar year while some stats are reported based on the state's fiscal year (9-1 to 8-31). Every state agency has to report certain stats to the legislature as part of its budget authorizations. Those stats must be kept by fiscal year. Others are kept by calendar year for "normal" use.

I think where some of the confusion is coming from, is the date stamps on prior releases of the demographic data make it appear the data is available for release before the first of the year(without making us wait ). For example:

License Applications Issued (PDF), Demographic Reports for Fiscal Year 2008 had a date stamp on it: 11/03/2008, 10:30 AM
License Applications Issued (PDF), Demographic Reports for Fiscal Year 2007 had a date stamp on it: 11/08/2007, 08:35 AM

I'd LOVE to know the monthly totals of numbers of licenses issued during the year. You know it HAS to be available, so why not publish it? It seems to me that could be easily accomplished without committing additional resources, since the data is already there.

I just emailed DPS about this, and surprisingly enough, 8 minutes later I got a reply saying basically that the reports generally come out sometime after the new year.

That's nice that you had an 8 minute response time,
but the ambiguity of their answer leaves us still wondering
when those stats will appear. After 1/1/10 was to be
expected. Nice of them to confirm that. :-)

This is getting ridiculous. Here it is April 6.

I've been checking the DPS link to CHL Demographic data almost
every day so that I could post them as soon as they are available.

Over 3 months into the new year and we still don't have the new CHL
stats from 2009. Sheesh!

SIA, we are on the same wavelength. I checked the website earlier this evening and......nothing.

I'm going to email them again tomorrow. This is ridiculous. Their fiscal year ended over 7 months ago. And we are into the second calendar quarter as well.

Last year they published it on Feb.18 or close to it.
