EOtech

Post by Mhoward »

I have a DPMS AR-15 223 that I barely ever shoot, usually brong it with me when I go hog hunting just in case there is a bunch under the feeder, nothing like a 30 round magazine
Anyways, I have always wanted an EOtech red dot scope but they are real pricey, especially when I only put maybe 100 rounds through it a year. I was looking on ebay the other week and there are a bunch of the knockoff EOtechs for under $100. I have read reviews of people putting these on 22's and some 223's and I havnt really seen anything bad about them yet, they stay dialed in with the smaller calibers.
Does anyone have one of these knockoffs? Good, bad?

I'd be patient and keep looking for a good deal on a used one.

I just paid $250 for a 512 today at lunch.

Gonna take a while to get used to a sight that works so well for fast target acquisition and both-eyes-open shooting. :anamatedbanana

Save your pennies and buy a real one. Buy cheap, buy twice. Take the guy's advice in this post and hunt for a used one on eBay or Gunbroker.

Those knockoff are absolutely fine.... for Airsoft guns ;-)

Save up. I know it seems like a lot of money, but you DEFINITELY get what you pay for with optics.

There are people who can use the full potential of an EOtech sight but there are also a lot of people with EOtechs that I can outshoot with a $30 red dot.

One cheaper alternative to EOTech are the Bushnell Holosights. Some say they are almost identical, minus the cover over the top.

If you're just using it for the range it probably won't matter because if/when it breaks or flakes out on you, you can just go home.

I've had very little luck with cheap optics and finally just broke down and bought what I really wanted (557 + 4x FTS magnifier). You already said you don't shoot it very often so why don't you just stash away the money you were going to spend now and wait until you have enough for the sight you actually want?
