Meteorologists
I have yet to hear one warn me of incoming Meteors.
Why are they called Meteorologists? Why aren't they called "Folks that need to look out the window" or something equally scientific?

Re: Meteorologists
As an amateur meteorologist I actually do both; look for meteors and try to predict the weather.
The word "meteorology" is from Greek μετέωρος, or metéōros, which means "high in the sky"; and -λογία, -logia, loosely meaning "study of".
As a balloonist I work at several of the Texas balloon festivals as their weather officer since I have a little background in meteorology and know what is good or bad for balloon flights. I am also a storm spotter/chaser. So, I am either looking for really good weather to fly really bad weather to chase. This in between stuff is boring!!!

Re: Meteorologists
I'm not a meteorologist but I work in the same building with some. However, I did NOT stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. (Storm Spotter here too, Keith!) Meteorologists are an interesting group of people. And what other profession do you know of where you can be wrong 70% of the time and STILL keep your job?
