Crossbreed SuperTuck advice needed

Post by Kevinf2349 »

Hi

I got the green light from my wife to investigate getting another IWB for the Glock 30. I think I am going to go with the Crossbreed Supertuck but I have a couple of questions about them.

Do you recommend the horsehide or is the black cowhide sufficient? (in terms of comfort and ease of draw)

What clips work best? I like the thought of the J clip but I am not sure if my pants can stand it.

I would hate for people to start singing "Pants on the ground" to me!

Thanks for any advice or insight. :tiphat:

A Supertuck was my first holster and I love it. I bought the standard model, black cowhide, SnapLok belt clips. The clips that came with it were the original ones and seem to be a bit thinner, plus the cut out logo weakened the metal and they started to bow out after putting on and taking off a few times. I ordered the newer, solid SnapLok clips and they work like a charm.

Can't speak for the comfort of horsehide, but if you go with the basic cowhide I don't think you'll be disappoiinted.

I got mine for my XDm 40 and another for my 40 Hi-Power both in horsehide with the J-Clips. The horsehide holds up better in humid or sweaty environments (according to Crossbreed) and the J clips are less obtrusive visually than the standard clips.

I love mine!

The problem that i had (as did many others i have talked to) with metal clips is the tend to cut a lot of little hole in your cover shirt. this is even worse if you do a lot of sitting or driving. I got the J-clips and stopped having the problems with my shirts gettin cut up.

I would also look at Minotaur, which has a similar line. I have the MTAC, and it is quite comfortable.

I have owned the Crossbreed supertuck and a Comp Tac MTAC and C_TAC. The Crossbreeed used to be cheaper, but I prefer the Comptac. I actually had a G30 with CompTac holster and just sold it. Either holster was comfortable to me, but I have also carried a Para 14-45 IWB with no problem. Most people would never carry a 45 that held 15 rounds IWB, but I am different.

Haven't had either long enough to vouch for "holds up better," but I can tell you from wearing both cowhide and horsehide IWB holsters, I think the horsehide is more comfortable.

For me, it doesn't get as "sticky" or itchy when I'm sweaty as the cowhide does. This might have to do with the natural/oil-tanned finishes on my horsehide holsters vs. the finished black/tan on my cowhides.

As far as clips, for my MTAC, the best upgrade I've made is switching from the standard belt clips to the C-Clips....seems to stay in place better.

And, as always, a good belt makes all the difference in the world--especially as the OP mentioned "Pants on the ground" Although I have a gut (working on losing it) I have no back-side, and I'm basically built like a funnel...so I know of what I speak when it comes to a belt "rlol"

when you buy the supertuck the J frame are just $5 extra. get them as additional to the standard clip ones.

I have 2 of 'em, both in cowhide. I think they are pretty comfortable. If the horsehide is even more comfortable as 'cbunt1' mentions, then it may be worth the extra cost.

I have worn mine every single day since I got my plastic. See my Sig for date. I haven't had anything to complain about yet with the Crossbreed. Well built and very comfortable. I don't have any experience with any other IWB holsters but if there is a holster more comfortable then the Crossbreed I would forget that I was armed. It all comes down to personal preferences I guess.

I have just the standard cowhide. I haven't carried in hot weather yet so I can't give a review of how the cowhide does in the heat. I have been using the regular clips until a couple weeks ago when killerfly was so nice to give me some J-clips. I like those much much better for when I tuck in my shirt ( At Work ). Makes me much less nervous about two black clips sticking out on my brown belt.

That is almost the same reason my wife told me to get a new IWB. In my case the horsehide straps (brown) were showing up against the black belt. (These 5-11 belts rock btw).

She obviously wants me to dress in matching belt and holster! "rlol" :thumbs2:

I think I am going to go with the horsehair and J clips. I just didn't want to spend more needlessly after all I have to save up for some 380 ammunition! "rlol"

Go for it Kev! I think you will be pleased with what you get. I'm in the same boat on ammo. The saving never ends!

New holster ordered! :hurry:

I went with the horsehair and bought the J clips to go with it.

The 10% discount for active NRA members was sweet too. :thumbs2:

Now let the waiting begin. Thanks for all the input. :tiphat:
