CHL-100 Question

I have a question concerning the CHL-100 form. It sure is a pain to hand write all the info on each form, so I was thinking of using Adobe Acrobat Review and Comments to fill out the required information except for signatures, of course. The only problem is when printed out, this leaves a box around the text. How do other instructors handle this? Does everyone just hand print each one? Or do you have another method?
Inquiring minds want to know!!

Thanks! :txflag:

I used NitroPDF (less expensive version of Adobe) to create text boxes in the document. I prefill everything except the student name, DL number, and date. Then I have very little to fill in on class day. If I have access to a printer at the class, I print them with the correct info. If not, I don't have too much to write in.

Another, cheaper, but more tedious way to do this, is to scan the blank CHL100, insert it into a Word document as a JPG, then add text boxes there and type in the info.

Either way, it beats hand writing all the info.

I scanned into Adobe Acrobat Professional and filled all the info that stays the same.I leave training date, Original or renewal and Students TDL number blank. I then had three part NCR forms printed. They cost about $0.40 each but save tons of time. I give the student the top two and I keep the bottom.

I pre-print the forms using Acrobat Pro. I include all student ID, instructor, classroom and range data. All the students and I have to do is print pass/fail, sign and date two copies of the form. The student is told to keep a copy and send the original. I do the same, leaving a copy with the range and/or other instructor.

If you created the text boxes using Adobe Acrobat to create the text boxes; open the document in edit form; right click on the text box and you can remove the "border" from the text box or create a white color for the border color.

Glad I could help. I've been using the form-fill text boxes since the adobe form was generated. At least we don't have to purchase them and write them out by hand! I suggested that they create the boxes on the form at my renewal class last year so that all instructors could use this technique.... oh well.

I pulled the CHL-100 into Microsoft Access and use it to track all the info for the students, classes and ranges.
One touch of the button, poof! Form printed.
If they come back for a renewal, same deal, except the info is already there!
