Security Guard Gets Some "Cowboy" Action"

Post by doc540 »

I had a restraurant and lounge in a hotel back in the '80's and my private security guard insisted on carrying a Single Action Colt in .45 Long Colt (your classic cowboy six gun)

I had no problem with it because I knew him to be competent and trusted his judgement.

A serial robber started hitting businesses around town. After about a month he'd hit about 5 or 6 businesses.

His MO was to demand cash from the cashier and shoot at least one shot with a .22 long-barrel revolver to let them know he meant business.

One night while my band is on stage in my club, the hotel cashier runs in and tells us he's just been hit by the .22 bandit.

I immediately lock front and back doors to protect my people, and my security guard head's outside looking for the bandit.

The bandit comes roaring out of the parking lot in a Ford pickup, and, you guessed it, the SG torches off a Long Colt round!

BAM!! Left front tire blows, bandit careens down the freeway access road on three good tires and is captured a few blocks away.

Bandit tells the cops, "It's ok that ya'll arrested me, but that COWBOY DON'T HAVE NO RIGHT SHOOTIN' AT ME LIKE THAT!" "rlol"

This story is a bit long in the tooth, but it is one of the most inspiring stories regarding self defense. It involves a retired marine (John Lovell) living in Florida. After being robbed at gun point, the marine was asked to lay down in the restroom (possible potential 2nd crime scene). At that point, he decided it was time to pull his concealed carry and resolve (terminate) the situation. But the mother of one of the accused robbers objected on the grounds that John Lovell (you gotta luv it)took the law in his own hands...

I am appending two references in case you want to also enjoy reading them.

My Marine friends would say that there's no such thing as a "former Marine"

"Once a Marine, always a Marine."

Former Marine is OK, but never refer to one as an ex-Marine.
