Range Question

I have a regular range that I use and I`m happy with it.
My question is , A really good friend of mine has land and said that I could do my classes there if i wanted to.
I know on the CHL-100 it asks for the range name. If I use my buddys` land , What do I put there?
Any thoughts or help....

Name the range then fill in the blank.

I can just give it any name I like?
My concern is if the DPS want to check it , since it`s private property and I dont own the land.

I am going to the Instructor Cert this Summer as soon as they set a date. I am not near as knowledgabe as some of the instructors that have been around a long time but.
My range is not on my land either. I have a simple lease agreement w/ the owner for $1.00 a yr. I named my range, had it looked at & signed off on by a Certified Instructor & all that paper work in just before they dropped the requirement to do so.
You may want ot call the DPS for clarification but if you have a lease you are in control of it, you name it, you maintain it, then it is yours.

Do I understand correctly that a range no longer has to be certified by DPS as set forth in Rule 6.83?

For final confirmation, just email the CHL instructor section of DPS at the following email address

CHLinstructors@txdps.state.tx.us

However, from the DPS websight where you used to go for the PDF forms for range certification one will find the following notice:

Range Registration Form (Note: The Department is no longer required to register ranges. Access to the Range Certification Affidavit is unavailable.)

Ok I sent an email to DPS and this is what I got so far until they get more info. for me. What you guys think?

Mr. Garcia as you’ll follow the Texas Law Statues you should be fine with your range. I’ll forward your message to our legal department in order to receive a better answer though.

I know that for a range we no longer have to have a Range Registration Form. My question is that I have access to land to do the Range Proficiency. I know on the CHL-100 it asks for the range name for this part. Since I have access to this land to do this vs at the range that I`m already using. Maybe Im over looking it but where are the Texas Law Statues for a gun range?
Need to check it out tosee if I can do this.
