Gun belt Help

Hey everyone,
I posted a few weeks back on the getting the Cross breed super tuck. It was recommend that i buy a good gun belt. Well sure enough, i was walking into Academy while it was pouring down rain with my one year old daughter in one arm, and re adjusting my sagging gun with the other and pop! yup my cheap belt which was slightly frayed to begin with snapped right in half! SO luckily i was quick enough to grab my falling rig (and pants, I'm real skinny so they went straight for the ground) in time to keep everything concealed. Anyways, the walk of shame through the cold rain trying to keep my daughter dry and my pants and gun up was a lot of fun and made me think i need a gun belt sooner than later. Gravity works fast on pants with a Glock clipped on. i have been fishing the forum for some info and have been reading some of the reviews of different belts. i was looking at a few but i want to get it right on my first buy as money is tight. these are some of the belts that i was looking into. if anyone uses any of these or has any opinion of them i would appreciate hearing from you. thanks everyone.

Check to see if LaPoliceGear.com still has the 5.11 leather belts in your size for $7.99 + shipping. That's the deal of the year. Otherwise check on eBay as multiple sellers have them for about $15 + shipping. And if all else fails, pay the full retail of about $35 for either the 5.11 leather belt or the nylon "trainer" belt anyplace that carries 5.11 Tactical Clothing.

The 5.11 belts are the cheapest belts I've found that actually work. The leather, and especially the color dyes, on these belts are not world class. But they certainly will keep you pants up and your gun securely fastened.

I have been using the Cabela's Double Duty for about 2 months. So far works great, no problems.

That deal appears to be gone (out of stock) but if you buy the 5.11 pants for $17 plus shipping you get the 5.11 leather belt for free. One of the members told me about this at the tsra gun show.

Sizes on the pants are strange but just worry about the waist. I had to get the pants 4" too long due to what was available. I'll get the wife to tailor them but even if you toss the pants it is still a great deal on the belt.

check ebay for 5.11 belts. I got a nylon tactical trainer the other day for about $21 shipped.

You might be able to find a boot or saddle maker close to you and have them build you a belt. Had a 1 1/2" heavy belt with buckle built by local boot maker for $45. Works very well and should last forever, plus really supports The SuperTuck and full size 1911 very well.

I bought a 5.11 tan double stitch 1.25 belt last week for $10.99 on get it out of the store clearance.. Figured for that, I can always use another belt. Was very surprised to find it is a good replacement for my Galco that I have been wearing for a long time now. We will see how this 5.11 holds up as far as stitching and such.

Just ordered a belt from Cross bread along with a super tuck so we will see how that works out.

IIRC, USA1 purchased a Dickey's heavy duty work belt at Wal-Mart (for $12.95 I believe don't hold me to that price) that he liked a whole lot, and was very stiff that seems like a good belt to try, without spending a ton of money.

Someone else did and liked it and I commented that I might get one but I went with the 5.11 belt instead.

I use a Dickies leather belt at work, and all it has to hold up is a radio in its holster. It's a nice belt, and I got it for work thinking that it would be a good trial run to see how it would work as a gun belt. (It may bot be the same one Joe is thinking of.)

Anyway, the telling part of this story is that the Dickies belt only holds up my work pants. For carry, I have and love a crossbreed. The fit and finish of the belt is great, and it's clearly some quality leather. The buckle is sturdy and removable, so I can put my own on there if I want. And one last tell of quality I'll share: the buckle is held on with Chicago screws, not button snaps. Maybe a small thing to a lot of folks, but it means something to me.

I ordered a quick ship belt from A&G Custom Gun Leather. Great looking belt, awesome customer service and very fast delivery (2-3 days)

One of these days I will order a Crossbreed belt with the velcro sewn inside. Until then, I have a brown and a black Double Duty belts from Cabela's. I got both on sale last fall. They work very well holding up gun and pants while holding children in the rain. Been there, done that!

I've been using a 1.5" kydex-lined leather belt from Comp-Tac for the last 2.5 years, and it has proven to be well worth the $80 I spent on it.
