Here's a news story with surveillance video of a parking lot robbery where a woman was beaten and robbed in a North Dallas.

It illustrates the hidden cost of "task fixation" in public spaces. The assault lasted about 12 seconds and looks to be have taken place near the entrance to the store.

Re: Parking lot assault of woman
A couple of initial thoughts, will probably have additional ideas after thinking about this for a while.
I don't care what part of what city you live in, but exposing a very valuable diamond after dark, while you are alone, indicates a total lack of situational awareness. I can understand a woman wanting to wear her wedding ring, but a good jeweler could make her a very good copy for every day use for around a grand.
She mentioned in the interview that she 'normally' turned the ring around so the diamond was not visible. I would think that shopping alone, after dark, would be a good time to do this.
It did not appear the thief was aware of the ring before he saw it on her finger. This seemed to me to be a crime of opportunity. See a female alone, concerned with her basket and not her surroundings, and strike quickly.
I can only hope the video can be enhanced by LEO's to identify the two perps.

If the 2nd admendment only applies to muskets and muzzle-loaders, then the 1st admentment must apply only to the spoken or printed word. Printing must be done on hand presses, news stories must be written in longhand, no keyboards or electric processes may be used.

When will people ever learn that wearing $100k rings and $25k watchs make you prime mark especially if you are a lone female in a parking lot inthe big city.

Saw on news last night one of the perps was arrested in Wichita Falls. Ring still not located.
