First time at the handgun range - ***Update on new gun***

Post by Dutch »

I had not shot a handgun since my dad's .38 revolver as a grade school kid about 30 years ago.
A friend took me to the range to shoot his Beretta PX-4 storm subcompact w/ 3" barrel since I am thinking of buying one.

Shot this group on my 5th clip, err magazine with the gun at 5m. The outlier is the DA, first shot.

I liked the gun so much I am buying one this week.

I'd say that's pretty good shooting, considering that's the first time you've shot in 35 years!! :thumbs2: :thumbs2:

Well done!

A pretty good group there.

Quote: "Shot this group on my 5th clip". FWIW, on some of the gun forums, some "pureists" would be telling you about now that "A clip is what a woman puts in her hair. A magazine is what a man puts in his handgun."

Ya, most people know what you mean when you say "clip", but technically (to the "pureists" or some other not-so-nice names), that device that holds the bullets - excuse me - "cartridges" ;-) - is a magazine. Glad to see ya hanging out here.

Well, now, that all depends.

Yep magazines for semi-auto handguns and clips for moon clip revolvers and rifles. I don't use clips in my hair but I will use them to hold papers together!

haa, not quite. It is a dirty bird spatter target. I had never seen one before, but it has something laminated between the ink on top and the plastic like paper that leaves a metallic residue around the holes.

Changed it to magazine, that was actually a rare mistype/speak for me, I always call it a magazine, even on my long guns.

I realized i forgot to point out the big hole is a 6 shot group. When I get my own I'll try at the long pistol range as well

Very nice. In particular for being out of shooting for so long.

Keep emptying those magazines ;-) downrange.

"pulled the trigger" and picked up the PX4 subcompact today :thumbs2:
I was fortunate and found a used one for $145 off new. Did not come with all the stuff in a new box, but I can pick up the accessories I need separately and still save $$$

hopefully it works as flawlessly as the one I borrowed last weekend. I will try a few different FMJ brands. I don't know which self defense rounds I'll end up trying through it.
