Video, 54 seconds. Russian Roulette with a semi-auto pistol.

Russians don't need the 4 rules.

The pistol used was described as an IZH-79-9, which
is not familiar to me.

It looks to be a .380, sizewise, but maybe the last 9 in
its model number means it's a 9MM.

Fires rubber bullets at a reported 36# muzzle energy.

ETA: Similar situation to someone thinking blanks are harmless.

Mike1951:

Thanks for finding the link to the pistol in the video.

I read the link, but it's unclear to me what would happen
to the guy who fired it in contact with his head.

Would it knock him out and give him a big goose egg?

Since the news reader was speaking Russian, we are in the dark
as to the outcome.

The effect was dramatic and immediate and could have resulted in death. I would expect the result to be similar to this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jon-Erik_Hexum
On October 12, 1984, in between filming scenes on the set of Cover Up, (Jon-Eric) Hexum was critically wounded after he placed a .44 Magnum prop gun loaded with blanks to his temple and pulled the trigger.[5] The accident happened during the filming of a scene where Hexum’s character (Mac Harper) was supposed to unload a handgun and replace the bullets with blanks—as the script required. However, the shooting was delayed due to a technical difficulty and Hexum fell asleep on the set. Hexum awoke approximately fifteen minutes later and, realizing the scene was still not ready to be shot, began playing with the gun. He eventually placed the gun to his head and pulled the trigger.[6]

Hexum was apparently not aware that blanks use paper or plastic wadding to seal gun powder into the shell, and that this wadding is propelled out of the barrel of the gun with enough force to cause severe injury or death if the weapon is fired within a few inches of the body, especially if pointed at a particularly vulnerable spot, such as the temple or the eye. Although the paper wadding in the blank that Hexum discharged did not penetrate his skull, the wad struck him in the temple with enough blunt force trauma to shatter a quarter-sized piece of his skull and propel the pieces into his brain causing massive hemorrhaging.[2][7]

Hexum was rushed to the Beverly Hills Medical Center where he underwent five hours of surgery to repair his wounds.[7] On October 18, six days after the accident, Hexum was declared brain dead.
ETA: I converted the 70 joules shown on that page to just over 51 ft lbs. By comparison, a .25acp shows 66 ft lbs.

Looks like a unique way to deal with obnoxious wedding guests.

51 foot pounds with an 11 grain rubber bullet shouldn't get much penetration, but at muzzle contact, especially right at the temple like that, it's a hard enough smack to do serious damage without penetrating.

Hmmm...Russians can carry this for self defense. Maybe they're not quite as crazy as we sometimes think.

Why do I get the feeling that the guy who had the gun originally was setting up the second guy?

Was thinking the same thing. Notice how he racked the slide and no one else did.

I cannot watch the video but if this is the wedding video I know a little about it.

Guy A was using the gun (he thought it was unloaded) to make the point that getting married is like putting a gun to your head and pulling the trigger.

Apparently he did not think that anyone else would play off of his idea. Obviously he was wrong and Guy B thought it was such a good idea that he wanted to do the same thing only he pulled the trigger.

The gun was loaded with rubber bullets and Guy B was sent to the hospital in critical condition where he is expected to survive with severe brain damage.

If you ask me any brain damage was pre-existing. :banghead:

There was that, and he selected the second guy.
