What is the suggested procedure if you are in a traffic stop as a passenger, and you are carrying you concealed weapon. I dont remeber going over this scenario in class.
Thanks!

Re: Passenger In Traffic Stop
If the officer asks for your id, give him both and inform. If he doesn't ask, just sit there politely and let the driver do the talking.chadhender wrote:What is the suggested procedure if you are in a traffic stop as a passenger, and you are carrying you concealed weapon. Seems like a passenger saying "hey i have a chl!" as an officer interacts with the driver might increase his stress level.

"Ees gun! Ees not safe!"
Re: Passenger In Traffic Stop
Yeah, I thought handing over the CHL was good enough for informing. It's worked for me when I have been pulled over. I'd hate to inadvertently say the wrong thing when I was nervous.

I believe the Carrollton Police Dept has special rules and procedures for handling CHL passengers.chadhender wrote:What is the suggested procedure if you are in a traffic stop as a passenger, and you are carrying you concealed weapon. I dont remeber going over this scenario in class.

Re: Passenger In Traffic Stop
Generally speaking, a passenger is under no obligation to give ID or answer questions. While there is still a requirement to present the CHL when the peace officer/magistrate/etc. demands to see your DL or ID, there's no longer any penalty for failing to do so.
