Shootout in Juarez, 20 dead

Post by karder »

For those of you who are interested, we just had a local news cut-in here in El Paso. There was a shootout across the border about an hour ago and it looks like 20 are dead so far. The preliminary reports are 7 federal officers and 13 gunmen are dead. Must have been a big one. I will be curious to see the news footage of the scene so I can see where it happened. Stay out of Mexico if you can.

That is unbelievable! Thanks for sharing karder. This will certainly make national AND world wide headlines.

That wasn't any police action. That was a full fledged military operation.

Stay safe karder! All of you in Laredo, El Paso, Brownsville, and ALL the border cities!

Wow. :eek6
How quickly do you think it happened?
In a situation like that, do you have the ability to care about what's beyond your target?

At least it seems like the GG's are better shots almost 2:1 (Though overall numbers / weaponry has a lot to do with it too).

At what point do you guys on the border start open carrying long guns? :fire

Reports are now saying that the cops were attacked. It seems that they were doing some kind of operation and a bunch of SUVs closed in around them. Apparently it was a hail of gunfire that lasted only a couple of minutes. That is very significant when the gangs are attacking heavily armed federal officers. This was a terroristic attack meant to intimidate the police force.
The shooters are just street gang enforcers, so they got dropped 2 to 1 but there will be plenty of others to take their place. A co-worker of mine who is working down there today, says he was at a gas station and 5 police trucks came in to fuel. He said about 15 masked SWAT officers jumped out with M4s and covered the trucks as they gassed up. When they finished everyone jumped back into the trucks and sped away. Things are pretty tense down there right now.

Mexican authorities have revised their death toll. Mexican Tv photographers were on the scene immediately, and questioned the "13 gunmen killed" report. Apparently the new numbers are 7 dead officers and 1 dead civilian. The civilian was a 17 boy working at a taco stand. Mexican authorities are now saying no dead gunmen, but they "think one might be wounded". Typical scene, AK-47 shell casings and 9mm. Looks like the 13 dead gunmen was an attempt to save face.

You know, those Mexicans are simply day labors who want to make an honest living, the killing is just, you know, for entertainment purposes only.

Seriously, I just would love to see Texas enact immigration laws like in AZ.
