CHL in less than 30 Days!

Post by lj4423 »

I'm new to the forum thanks to Tom Eastep (CHL Instructor in Texas City, Texas)... I took and passed Tom's class on 03/05/10 and like many others I heard the horror stories of how long it would take before I actually recieved my CHL aka "plastic". I mailed my information off like many of you proably did, express mail with the hopes of a faster processing time! Well I had no clue that I need to submit a payment along with mailing my paperwork. About two weeks after mailing my paper work WITHOUT the 140.00 check, the STATE sent me a notice stating that my paper work was cleared but they had not recieved a payment and could not process it until they had payment. So I overnighted a check that required a signature of reciept. Long story short I think missing that payment allowed me to raise red flags with the state because they wanted the money!! I recieved my CHL aka "plastic" on 04/30/2010. Now happier than ever, I would like someone to tell a friend that is going to take the class to try the same thing and see if it's a loophole in the system and see if they recieve theirs in less than 30 days.

That's fast right there! They wanted their money! Congrats on getting the plastic. Now, let's see the Wally Walk to validate the License. Haha.

Congrats!

The CHL folks seem to be on the ball these days. I mailed my CHL address change (USPS, paper check) the same day I did my DL address change online. I received my new CHL today but I'm still waiting on my new DL. :totap:

But gosh the design of the new plastic is ugg-lee!

Okay, here we go. The Wally Walk is when you strap on your CCW and proceed to WalMart to check for comfort and to acclimate to the paranoia that evryone notices. To meet requirements you have to browse, reach for top shelf items, some insist a Subway sandwich is mandatory and most of all, you have to have pictures taken, preferably by a significant other (so you don't look nuts taking your own) and post them here.

Variations exist, the Sam's saunter et al and some members vary requirements for successful completion. But that's it in a nutshell.

thanks... I still have some questions about when to carry and where, even though I'm knowledable of the CHL law handbook. I know that you can't cover every aspect of the law and that 90% of the time at some point you may be put in an "illegal carry" situation, or could be in the eyes of the law.

Pick up a copy of "The Texas Gun Owners Guide" on Amazon or at your local gun shop. It's very helpful in terms of describing the law with clear English, etc. :cheers2:

You can stay away from the boundary conditions and be pretty safe legally.

My CHL renewal total time took only 49 days. About half the time it took to get my original CHL four years ago. Not Too bad.

Congrats on the plastic mine only took 192 days.

I had no delays on my part that required me to provide additional information to them for processing.
