Re: Excellent America commercial by Jeep
I like the commercial, but when they talk things they show those things. Except for Colt Revolvers where they show horses.
Im sure some advertising guy told them not to show a gun in their commercial, but I wish they would have. Have a cowboy holding an old Colt or something. Good, but it certainly could have been better.

They didn't show a cotton gin in the commercial either.

Would also have been nice if the person tapping the telegraph key actually knew how to use it.

You would notice something like that. They must have used a "hand model" for the commercial. I was too busy looking for the Colts to notice whether or not the guy knew Morse code.jimlongley wrote:Would also have been nice if the person tapping the telegraph key actually knew how to use it.

I am glad that the commercial did emphasize building products in the USA. I hope that it catches on and that more corporations decide to bring their manufacturing plants back here.

I believe at 35 seconds, there is a muzzle flash and shows the barrel of a gun. Unless I'm seeing things!

You may be right about that. It sure looked like one to me.mikeintexas wrote:I believe at 35 seconds, there is a muzzle flash and shows the barrel of a gun. Unless I'm seeing things!
P.S. Jim was right too about the Morse code. He is just tap, tap, tapping. He wouldn't have been hired by Western Union.

I noticed that the Colts were missing, but that had been commented on, so I had to come up with something.
There's another ad going around right now, and I thought it was for Jeep, but it might be something else, and the announcer has a marked non-US accent.

"Texas Edition Silverado" and the announcer sounds like he's trying to channel "Ahnald" and succeeding in convincing me he's not Texan.jimlongley wrote:I noticed that the Colts were missing, but that had been commented on, so I had to come up with something.
