Well this isn't exactly about CHL but there is a tie.

There are two main flavors of Texas ID.

Drivers License and ID Card

The Id card costs a few bucks and you get them from the same place as the Drivers License.

I just caught a headline that the Georgia Voter Photo Id law was over rulled by a judge because it required that a voter purchase a State Photo Id.

This is the 2nd state in about a week that has had their Voter Id requrement over rulled. Because you can't charge folks to exercise a right!

Too bad it doesn't apply to the 2nd amendment.

Oh well, If Texas intends to pass a law requiring a Photo Id to vote, they will need to have some kind of "Free" Id.

Texas needs to pass "Alaska Carry". Pack-em if you got-em, get a permit to bypass NICS.

Hold that thought.

It's either a right to keep and bear arms or it's a luxury tax.

Take away the second first, and the first is gone in a second.

I think Congress is working on a bill right now that will establish a nationwide photo ID card that will be free. The only problem is, the Dems don't want it because that would effectively eliminated 50% of their voters. (i.e. illegal immigrants can't vote without the card)

59,028,109 people voted for John Kerry in the 2004 election. So, that means that 29,514,054 of these were illegal immigrants.

INS and other estimates place the total numbe of illegal immigrants in the US from 10 million to as high as 20 million.

Assuming the high end number, that means voter turnout among illegal immigrants is at least 150%!! We haven't seen that kind of voter commitment since the old days in Duval County! Wow!

On the other hand, I'd be willing to bet more than zero illegal immigrants managed to vote, which is whatever that number is too many.
