The Expendables (movie)

Post by Teamless »

(This could go into the CHL discussions, due to the below info, but as it is a movie, I chose off-Topic - Mods' move it if you like)

In a long shootout in the movie, there is Sly (Stallone for all of you too young to know that name) with a Semi-Automatic Pistol (I didn't actually catch what type - sorry), but he is running through magazine after magazine, knocking out probably 10-12 shots in 3 seconds, and changing magazines in what seems 1/3 of a second.

And that is what this post is about --- I know its a movie, I know there are special effects, and I know with practice, and good positioned spare magazines, you could get very quick with the changes, but WOW! I was watching this thinking, holy cow, that's amazingly fast!!

I have had very little practice in change magazines, mostly because I do not carry a spare on my person when I am out and about, but when I have done it at the 1 IDPA I participated in, and when I have been on the range, without a huge adrenaline rush as would come in a firefight - which I am sure would cause all kinds of fumbling around, it takes me a few seconds to drop the magazine, grab the spare magazine and slap it in place.

If you get a chance to see the movie, I would recommend it. I enjoyed it and so did my wife, and that is what makes me think it is probably a pretty good movie.
And if you do see it, watch that scene and let me know if it is just me thinking WOW that was fast! or was it really that impressive?

I seem to recall that it appeared to be a single stack 1911..... that he proceeded to consistently fire 12+ rounds from, over and over again between (shown) reloads XD
However, I will give them the benefit of the doubt, maybe it was a 2011 in 9mm.... but it didn't look like it XD

Edit: Found some info on them. They're Kimbers!!! :woohoo

Saw the movie with my wife. Both of us commented about the speed of Sly changing magazines.

I enjoyed the movie and it must have been good because my wife actually like this action flick. :thumbs2:

Sylvester Stallone tore his shoulder and broke his neck while on the set of The Expendables, and had to undergo surgery to have a metal plate put in his neck. He was injured in the fight scene with Steve Austin.

Thanks for that link.

I looked up "The Shield." I was always curious what gun Vik Mackey carried.
