NY Judge Frank LaBuda stopped the trial of a hunter who was charged with assault for shooting another hunter. The defense attorney issued peremptory challenges to six of 35 potential jurors who had identified themselves as hunters. Judge LaBuda ruled that the challenges amounted to a "systematic exclusion" of hunters which violated the Supreme Court's 1988 ruling in Batson v. Kentucky, 476 U.S. 79.

If both the accused and the victim are hunters, wouldn't a jury of their peers be comprised of hunters? :headscratch

So for my jury trial tomorrow for a traffic ticket, is the jury compromised by being comprised of drivers? "Hunters" is a very broad category.
