New Marlin 336 added to the stable
I found a new Marlin 336W on sale at Academy Sports for $348.99. Less the $35 mail-in rebate from Marlin, that put the lever-action rifle in .30-30 at just $314 + tax! Now, what's the best holster for concealing that puppy?

Congrats! Your price seems much better than ours was a year ago (and that was on sale).
Even though we tend toward Winny, we had to find something in 30-30 (for ammo that's far easier to find and afford than the .32 special of my old Model 94), and happily latched onto the Marlin 336. Just a tad heavier than the Win94, but about as well-balanced. The action was very smooth when we first took it to the range.
We haven't yet compared the two for accuracy; I guess we'll have to do that soon....

congratulations! You just bought a lifelong companion that can be handed down for probably two more generations of hunters/shooters.

There should be a law that every house in Texas has at least 1 Marlin or Winchester lever gun, you just cannot go wrong with them. One day we may all need to re-enact how the west was won.....

Clementine, my 336, is probably my favorite gun. Good call!

My 1894 has to be my favorite in the quiver. I can't imagine life without it. Seriously.
You sir, have done well. Welcome to the Texans with a Marlin rifle family.
