1777 - British General Cornwallis relunctantly surrendered to George Washington in Saratoga, New York.

This is one of the most important forgotten dates in American history.

1919 - The Radio Corporation of America (RCA) was founded.

1967 - The musical play "Hair" had its first public performance.

1973- The Arab oil embargo began, plunging the U.S. into a very near version of freezing in the dark. The 55 MPH speed limit and a year of daylight saving time ensued.

I hated the 55 mph but, the year round DST was the worst. Kids waiting for School Busses and walking to school in the dark! What were they thinking?
