Even more interesting to me is the number of "none" - no knife, no gun, just fists or feet. People don't need weapons to be dangerous.

Coming to the event with purpose designed weapons takes planning. Folks use what they have at hand, so to speak, when the urge strikes suddenly.

Quite so. So when people express concern about protecting themselves against an "unarmed" assailant, rather than start in about "disparity of force" I think I will just refer them to that web page.

And, although I agree with you about "when the urge strikes suddenly" I also think that having a pistol holstered on one's hip can be a strong deterrent against giving in to that urge. An anchor, as it were, grounding one in the reality that once the first blow is struck, the genie is out of the bottle - and someone might just die.
