Bolt size for camera tripod?

Post by Charles L. Cotton »

Does anyone know the standard bolt size for a camera tripod? I just found the base for an old one I used for a chronograph but I can't find the bolt. Do they use a special thread?

Thanks,
Chas.

Should be 1/4-20 (USS), which is the common course thread for 1/4".

Just try it gently.
