I'm glad I don't live there, but if I did I'd be happy to file suit over this one, even knowing it would go to the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. What a load of garbage.

I am at a loss for words and I am thankful I am because I am sure that they wouldn't be fitting to this forum.

I guess I don't get any part of it. The "Superintendent" is saying that Hispanic students are either US citizens whose allegiance is to a foreign country, or they're foreign nationals. In the former case he's essentially saying that Hispanic students are fifth columnists or traitors --how is that not offensive? In the latter case he's saying that foreign nationals get to determine the behavior of American citizens in our own country --how is that not offensive? This "Superintendent" should be fired.

"Our Hispanic, you know, kids will, you know, bring their Mexican flags and they'll display it, and then of course the kids would do the American flag situation, and it does cause kind of a racial tension which we don't really want," Parraz said. "We want them to appreciate the cultures."

I'm sorry... Is this still AMERICA?....

Absolutely absurd. Ridiculous. Many other adjectives........

What rocks do some people live under? So much time, money and effort is spent trying to make youngsters more "sensitive" that we are undermining the very foundations on which this country was built. If Hispanics wish to celebrate their heritage with a Cinco De Mayo celebration, have at it. I won't interfere. St. Patrick's Day? Party away, in celebration of all our immigrant forebears have done to make this great country what it is. Be asked to put away my American Flag, which is a symbol of the toil, sweat and blood of all those immigrants and current citizens? I think not. Ever. I fly my flag to honor the country, its citizens, its founding and its heritage. My heritage. Mutual respect. Probably too much to ask for in this day and age..........

:patriot: :patriot: :patriot:

Perhaps a ride through his town on my Harley, parking in front of the school, with my American flag decal on the windshield would get me arrested......

Sounds to me like the Sup is in over his head. The statement that there were "complaints from students" over flying the US flag indicates that there are factions at that school who see the US flag as an insult. I would infer, then, that there are cultural factions at the school (a la NY in the 50's), and the Sup is losing control of the situation. I may be misreading, but it really sounds as if the Sup is trying to keep peace any way he can, and the story as related in the article is just a small indication of the true problems.

There is more to this than just an insult to the flag. While I admit that this article probably has some Conservative bias, it does lay out some of the groups behind wanting to do away with the American flag.

La Raza seems to be the most popular movement but Reconquista is more extreme. Both are active in Texas, too.

"We want them to appreciate the cultures . . ."

How about you appreciate this? You are living in our culture, and this is our flag, if you don't llike it, go back to your culture.

Americans who vacation in foreign countries and don't like the foreign culture should come home.

Foreigners who come to the USA and don't like US culture should go home.

School Reverses Course After Ordering Student to Remove American Flag From Bike

http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/11/12/sc ... flag-bike/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
A California school has done a U-turn after it forced a student to remove an American flag attached to his bike, saying the Stars and Stripes could spur racial tensions on campus.
...
Parraz says the school got flooded with so many complaints from upset parents both inside and outside of Denair that he was called into to "handle the situation."
:thumbs2:

Good job everyone who complained. If they want to fly the Mexican flag, go back to Mexico. In this Country we fly Old Glory :patriot:

I've heard alot of stupid crap coming from Kali, but this takes the cake. Especially when the school flies the flag out front. This is still the USA even in Kali.

Cut off all federal funding to the school district. The administrators can ask Mexico to make up the gap.
I believe the basic political division in this country is not between liberals and conservatives but between those who believe that they should have a say in the personal lives of strangers and those who do not.
