There appears to be a significant element of consistency in his behavior over the years.
This is not a firearms issue - it's a mental health issue. The poor guy needs serious help before he hurts someone else or himself, and is long overdue in getting it.

Re: Man Shoots TV over Palin Dance(DWTS)
DWTS=Dancing With the Stars [Edit: Took too long typing.]
A popular TV show in which various well-known people/celebrities are each paired with a professional dancer and they dance-off, with pairs being voted off the show until there is a winner. Bristol Palin had no dance experience and by all accounts is not exactly in her element on the dance floor, but the public continues to vote her through to the next round. She made it into the semi-finals, surprising most everyone involved.
Down to 4 contestants, the judges, hosts, and producers made it clear that they were saying goodbye to Bristol. They were polite about it, and threw her a bit of a cookie in praising her for her improvement, but made it known that she wasn't coming back. For example, they asked each pair what their plans were for the finals if they made it in, except Bristol. They asked her what she was going to do when she left. They built up each of the other three: the board leaders and the leading man, but every time they referred to Bristol it was to dramatically point out how she was at the bottom of the board, how she remained at the bottom of the board, asking if she thought it was because of politics that she still remained on the show, etc.
It looks like their strong arming to manipulate the outcome came back to bite them in the butt. They were so unsupportive of her and she appeared so left out that many people voted for the nice girl getting a bad break out of sympathy. Now she's in the unfortunate position of having been voted in to the finals over someone much more strongly favored, the singer Brandy, and having people polarize over her without her having an innate strength to show the naysayers what-for. Tough place to be in!
Oh, and I read three news articles and watched precisely one DWTS episode to put this together. I'm no authority.

Re: Man Shoots TV over Palin Dance(DWTS)
My wife is a fan and constant watcher of the DWTS. As a result, I've caught glimpses of it over the past few weeks. I've got a slightly different take on what is happening.
Some would blame the Conservative voting block for Bristol's popularity. It think it is the point that Hoi pointed out in her post - more of the lack of respect that Palin was given by the judges and the show in general. I personally got the feeling that they have have brought her on to make fun of her and that intent seemed to come through the broadcasts. There is a pretty strong anti-Elitist sentiment going on and the American public has always been a sucker for the underdog, whether it is in sports or elsewhere. There is no question but what Palin was the underdog or that she has worked very hard. Even the judges admitted that she has probably come the further than the other contestants who had experience.
Back to the OP. Un-medicated Bipolar plus booze are bad combination. One of my customers was bi-polar and, when he decided to not take his medication for a week, his tirades over nothing were unbelievable. I came close to believing that he was going to become physically violent with me a couple of times. I cannot imagine what would have happened with some alcohol in his system yet. This incident had nothing to do with guns and everything to do with un-medicated illness.

Re: Man Shoots TV over Palin Dance(DWTS)
Like Excaliber, my wife is an expert. I think she believes it's a state law that she has to watch every episode. At least she tapes it and will fast-forward through commercials and some of the other equally boring stuff.
Every single year there is a contestant that keeps getting votes because of a fan base. One year it was Cloris Leachman who was 147 years old and got every old fart in the country voting for her and she was horrible. Sports figures have stayed on much longer than they should have, and others have also because of demographics. Popular singers get to stay when they are far outclassed by the competition. Bristol Palin is no different, except as to the extent of the Palin-haters who have to attack anything connected to that family.
I'm happy for Bristol if for no other reason than the fact that it scares the snot out of every Democrat who sees another Palin in the public eye. Never before has a Vice-Presidential candidate prompted such visceral fear and hatred as Palin -- and I absolutely LOVE IT!!
Chas.

Re: Man Shoots TV over Palin Dance(DWTS)
I was out of town on business and my wife called me to tell me that Bristol had made the finals. It took me about 5 minutes to figure out what she was talking about!
I am no fan of the show, but I have been forced to sit through enough of it that I feel qualified to at least comment. I actually hope the Palin kid wins. Not that I am a fan of her, the show, or Sarah Palin, but I am so tired of hearing everyone make fun of Bristol and moan about how horrible she is. A lot of the talk show crowd has been downright cruel about her because they hate her mom, it is just mean spirited. While I am sure she is getting some votes from the Sarah Palin fans, I think she is also getting a lot sympathy votes from people who are weary of the Bristol bashing. Nothing like watching these middle-aged liberal leftist elitists, blast a 19 year-old because her dancing sucks on a TV dance show.

That show and shows like it are the reason I.Q.s are dropping and we have a socialist in the White House.
