Hello, New to the Forum
I didn't see anywhere that specified posting my first post. So thought I would introduce myself. My name is Keith. I just turned 25. I have 2 kids. I am trying to be a full time student and about to start work 5-6 days a week. I just bought a XD .40sc and hope to get my CHL sooner than later. I live in the country around Lake Lavon. I look forward to meeting everyone and learning new things from the forum.

Welcome!
Make sure you post your gun pics in the other thread. ;)
Where abouts is Lake Lavon located?

Welcome 1s1k52. You'll like it here, usually! J/K
I like the area around Lake Lavon. It makes for a nice Sunday afternoon ride on my scooter
when the weather is nice. Princeton, Anna, Lavon and Westminster (Big Slicks) for a burger.
It's all good.

All guns have at least two safeties. One's digital, one's cognitive. In other words - keep the digit off the trigger until ready to fire, and THINK. Some guns also have mechanical safeties on top of those. But if the first two don't work, the mechanical ones aren't guaranteed. - me

Re: Hello, New to the Forum
Thanks for all the replies and not pointing out there is a spot to introduce myself. Im an idiot and apparently didn't look around enough. Lake Lavon is a Lake that runs between wylie/farmersville/princeton etc. It is about 20 mintues east of Mckinney which is 40 Minutes North of Dallas. If you find 380 and hwy 75 then go East you can't miss it. When you see it you may think its a crap lake but understand they pump water out of it for Lay Ray Hubbard.
Fishing is good. I see people crazy enough to ski on that lake. I have done some DUMB DUMB stuff in my time but never that. There is various underwater trees that aren't always visiable throughout the lake.
I would love to make my next big purchase a beater truck and boat. After holding a sig 226 today my intentions have shifted.
I will look around the site in the mean time. Can anyone recommend places to get my CHL? If it really doesn't matter I am going for the cheapest out there.
Thanks for the welcomes.

The cheapest I know of is Captain McKeown from the Terrell Police Department. He conducts classes for $50. He also has an Advanced Handgun Training course for $120.00.1s1k52 wrote:Thanks for all the replies and not pointing out there is a spot to introduce myself. Welcome to the forum
You have a very nice gun (I have a XD .45 service model)! Might I try to persuade you to take a look at and handle a 1911? They are magnificent!
