Re: Just Got Off The Phone With Lost Maples State Natural Ar
Is this Corps of Engineers property? Is it posted? Did the person who answered the phone even have a clue as to what the laws are? Further research may be in order.......

Still, not sure why you would call them and ask, other than you already know the answer and wanted a laugh.
(I can't help but wonder if the Penal Code bill goes through about watercraft, if she'll say "as long as it's in your boat/kayak,raft.car.canoe .......)

Because SOME STATE PARKS are also US ARMY CORPS properties.
Normally the TPWD site lists if it is.
I usually check both the park name and any water body in it at both the USACE and TPWD sites.

All properties were acquired in 1984 by a lease made between the Secretary of the Army and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department."

Now you have to wonder if that call constitutes effective notice.

Yes, it's effective notice of a State Employee not knowing the law.KC5AV wrote:Now you have to wonder if that call constitutes effective notice.

Just keep it from being displayed or "going off" (discharging)
(I edited my posts above to include links for anyone wanting to look up TPWD and USACE properties, along with the generic State Park rules)

Definately not US Army Corps of Engineers owned lands. And try not to be so hard on the person that gave you the answer - it was probably one of the volunteer park hosts that are used because the parks and rec areas (including Federally-owned ones) are so danged underfunded. The person/employee/volunteer just made a simple mistake and probably had never had anyone call and ask that kind of question before.dihappy wrote:COE? Maybe I didn't take my meds today, but I was under the impression that in Federal properties, (National Parks etc) you aren't allowed inside buildings where workers are working,
But, State Parks? (Any NOT controlled, owned nor obtained through the Feds)
I don't recall seeing any place ...
Please direct me to where, if I'm forgetting.
DPS implies I can. (State Parks entrance buildings and State Park Stores, I assume are government buildings)

So, if I'm wrong, let me know, so I can leave it in the kayak/car before going into the store or entrance building from now on. But, I believe it's ok in State Parks which are not any Federal/National wildlife area etc. to carry in the buildings too.

Re: Just Got Off The Phone With Lost Maples State Natural Ar
You're correct, my apologies. Last time I was at Lost Maples, or any other state park, was 2005. As of recent we've been hitting National Parks so I've been in that routine, carry away.

You can't be given effective 30.06 notice for state property if it is non-prohibited government property.KC5AV wrote:Now you have to wonder if that call constitutes effective notice.
