Um... there was no CHL program... how did they have licensed handguns?

Well, they clearly must have accidentally handed out some licenses at the same place everyone was registering their handguns...Fangs wrote:Um... there was no CHL program... how did they have licensed handguns?
IANAL, YMMV, ITEOTWAWKI and all that.

I've never been to Kilgore. Without wishing to cast aspersions on the good people of that city, is Kilgore college a real school, as opposed to some kind of sleazy diploma mill?AndyC wrote:They sure don't seem to believe in critical thinking, do they?
I ask because, if it is a real school, then its president is embarassing its students, alumni and the folks who fund it.

It is a real College. Killgore Junior College is the home of the East Texas Police Academy.chartreuse wrote:I've never been to Kilgore. Seriously? You never heard of the KIlgore Rangerettes? Yes, Kilgore College is a real college, in a real east Texas oil town.chartreuse wrote:I've never been to Kilgore. The Constitution preserves the advantage of being armed which Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation where the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms. James Madison

Wow! I'm very glad that I took pains to be polite, when asking my question. Not only is it a real college, but it's one with a proud history.baldeagle wrote:Seriously? You never heard of the KIlgore Rangerettes? Yes, Kilgore College is a real college, in a real east Texas oil town.

Anybody else think it could use a new president?

Kilgore College President Bill Holda continues flying the flag of ignorance:

Re: College president insults Luby's Massacre survivors
This gentleman does not need to run an institution of higher learning. Period. No fact-checking, not a shred of evidence, factual or anecdotal to support his position, no real grounding in reality. While he is certainly well within his rights to express his own opinion, he is under no obligation to actually be correct. And he is certainly not correct. Perhaps (but doubtful) the board of regents of that school will enlighten him on more appropriate methods to communicate, like using facts or actual experimental observations to report on. I wonder if he knows how many guns are on his campus right now, locked up in vehicles? I wonder if there are any people there carrying illegally, without having been vetted by the process and checks we all endured to get our CHL's?
He is entitled to his opinion, however incorrect and ridiculous it may be. What is particularly bothersome to me is that there are people out there who will just roll over and agree with this educated college administrator simply because they presume he holds a prestigious office at a college and a doctorate degree in something or other.
When, not if, the campus concealed carry bill passes, I will carry my weapon with me legally to school and attend classes. I will be comforted by the fact that I can better protect myself if necessary, just as I can in most places throughout this state and others. I will not carry my weapon where it is illegal to do so. You'll never hear a criminal make a statement like that. There are over 32,000 students on the campus I attend. I doubt they are all angels.

Absolutely! In way too many instances, multiple and advanced degrees are an indication of Daddy's money and the student's reluctance, with Daddy's approval, to face life outside the hallowed halls of academia.carlson1 wrote:This is a perfect example that education doesn't give you common since!
