Argh! The wait! ;^)

Post by smasraum »

Well, I guess I've hardly started waiting at this point. I filled out the app online last Wed or Thu, took the class on Sat, and mailed my paperwork yesterday.

Still, I don't want to wait, and I'd love to get my card before Jan 3, but I'm not holding my breath.

Good luck, the only advice I have is that your status on their website is not always accurate so don't freak out because of what it says or doesn't say.

Processing times for most have been pretty snappy lately. I had my license in hand 21 days from when they received my packet with pics/sig/CHL-100 (app done online and digital fingerprints), and that includes Thanksgiving day holiday.

Don't know if they'll slow a tad for Christmas or not, but hopefully, you'll have it in 3-4 weeks. Just FYI, from someone else's communication with DPS, it appears that the website hasn't been working properly in the last several weeks. I received my license before the website every updated my status from waiting for materials.

No wonder it still hasn't updated. It's amazing how everyone's wait time varies so much.

Mine still shows fingerprints and background check under review, and I was told over the phone that my license was issued on 12/2 and I should get it in 7-10 days. Who knows when it will update, but I'm on day 56 from when they received it and my background check is spotless, i've only lived in one county in 5 years, and a background check is run on my yearly at work.
It appears Austin83 and I are in the same boat. Sort of. Today is day 49 from when DPS recieved my paperwork in the mail. The website has not updated my status since 10/30/2010. I have talked to them a few times over the phone and email and they have told me that my background check has not come back yet. They indicated I might have my plastic in time for Christmas. This is most likely due to a couple of minor lapses in judgement on my part in my younger days. Good luck fellas!

Keep in touch with them, I was told at one time that my fingerprints were delayed for an unknown reason and she seemed very suprised as to why it was taking so long. Later that week I was told they were "found" and sent in to be examined.

I have a clean record, but who knows. I'd seen some of the threads about the website status being way off lately. I would have liked to have gotten my fingerprints done electronically, but the closest place wasn't as close to my work as I'd have liked, so I just got them done during the class the old fashioned way. I haven't carried (or needed) a gun for the previous 40 years, I don't see that another 3-4 weeks is likely to be a problem (hopefully). I'm going to do my best to forget about it and try even harder to refrain from checking the DPS website.

Good luck to those folks that are still waiting!
