Potential Travel Pitfall to non-Reciprocity Places

Post by RoyGBiv »

EDIT: Looks like I failed to find the original thread for this topic when I searched for it.. Mea Culpa :oops: http://texaschlforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=33223" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Hopefully I've posted this in the correct place?
Not quite "political", but also not quite "never again".. :confused5

Here's some follow up on a CHL licensed Utah air traveler who missed a connection in New Jersey a few years ago. Posted as food for thought for folks who travel via air with their firearms.

Lessons learned?
1. When traveling with a firearm, be sure to consider layover locations and the repercussions of missed connections. This guy spent 10 days in jail and who knows how much money getting out of this jam.
2. If you're ever stranded with your weapon unintentionally in a gun-unfriendly location, you're likely better off renting a car and driving to a more friendly place before trying to "enter the transportation system" again.

simple solution: do not take possession of your bags.

$10 worth of toiletries is cheaper than jail.
