S. Korea navy 'kills Somali pirates, saves crew'
When I was in Southeast Asia in the 60's, the toughest guys in Vietnam were the ROK Marines. Now they have the Seals.
Bad boys....Bad boys....whatcha gonna do?
Watcha gonna do when they come for you?
From the article in Yahoo news:
"The SEAL special forces boarded the South Korean ship before dawn, freeing all the hostages and killing the pirates in cabin-to-cabin battles, they said."

I spent time in Korea in the 80s. Korean military are tough and have no sense of humor. They're not likely to be kind to pirates.
I don't fear guns; I fear voters and politicians that fear guns.

...my new heroes!!! save the mercy for those who show mercy to others...those animals need exterminating...glad someone's willing to do it...

I don't understand. Why couldn't they have spent a week negotiating with the pirates, and then paid them an undisclosed amount of money and provided them safe passage back to their homeland? Has this world lost it's humanity!

I loved the ROK Marines that worked with us in the central highlands. Those guys didn't play!

I worked with the ROK Army in Korea from '63 - '65, and even back then they were fantastic. In Vietnam, they gave new meaning to the phrase "Search and Destroy."MoJo wrote:I loved the ROK Marines that worked with us in the central highlands. Those guys didn't play!

We all just love it when none of the rescuers
were hurt, but many of the pirates are now "ex-pirates".

I never made it to Korea when I was in service, but many of may comarades did, and nearly all of them really liked the Koreans. Several of them told me that after meeting the ROK military counterparts, they decided the reason the US has forces there is not to protect the south from the north, but the other way around. Apparently the ROKs were ready to go sort out the NorKs once and for all.lkd wrote:I spent time in Korea in the 80s. Korean military are tough and have no sense of humor. I always kind of thought we should get out of their way. Especially now.

I was in Southeast Asia in the 60's as well. +1 for the ROK’s.
