I iz uh reloder now
W00t! After a slow ramp-up process, I've used my new Hornady Lock n Load progressive to load my first 100 rounds of .40 JHP. Have a couple thousand rounds of cast 9mm and .40 from Friendswood Bullet, now to do a bulk order of powder & primers to really go to town.
I'm really impressed w. the Hornady press - very smooth, reliable primer feeding, low lever force required, all in all a great experience.

So, I guess you got your bench set up OK. Congrats on your first reloads.
Be careful though. Reloading can become a lifelong addictive expensive habit

Re: I iz uh reloder now
The bench is *mostly* done; I brought the press down to my friend in Pearland and we test drove it on his bench.
Didn't want to send you pics 'till the bench was all done!

Congratulations!
You might want to load smaller quantities of different loads while you home in on THE LOAD that your gun has been looking for. Just sayin...

Re: I iz uh reloder now
I've heard lots of good things about the Hornady Lock 'n Load progressive. One guy I know sold his Dillon and replaced it with a Lock 'n Load he said the Hornady machine was far better than the Dillon.

Re: I iz uh reloder now
Old gringo, you're absolutely correct. I think this first time through, we were just focused on getting experience w. the machine, the process, getting a rhythm, etc. Had a couple of operators errors, a couple of kinks to work through.
It'll definitely require a change in my thinking to appreciate/remember that I can do 10 rounds of 'x', 10 rounds of 'y', and so on!

Re: I iz uh reloder now
Since my new love affair with .22 LR CZ 452's began, I've not been shooting my handguns a whole lot. I loaded a handful of .45 acp yesterday for the first time in many, many moons and had to re-train myself on the process. You are correct, one must pay attention.

Yup, I'm working on building muscle memory on simple, stupid things like always pushing forward on the upstroke to seat a primer - it's not all about the downstroke.
I've a friend who raves about the CZ .22 rifles, I'm not surprised you've been enjoying yours.

OH NO! This is going to start a color war for sure! One guy I know sold his Dillon and replaced it with a Lock 'n Load he said the Hornady machine was far better than the Dillon.

There is nothing that will heat up a forum faster than press vs press, red vs blue vs the other red vs green vs black.. YEEEEEHHHHAWWWWWW!
I have 3 colors on my bench and each one is THE BEST BRAND press you could possibly own! (Two shades of red and one silver)
