Prayers for my family

Whether the need is great or small, there is power in prayer, especially when God's people raise their voices together.

Prayers for my family

Post by CodeJockey »

All, I haven't been active on the forums for quite some time because of all the personal issues we're dealing with, but we could really use some prayers. I'll try and give you the short version.

My mom has been a Type 1 Diabetic for the last 30 years. Anyway, a couple of days before Christmas she had a low blood sugar episode while driving and crashed her car pretty badly. She broke 9 ribs (luckily she hit a light pole and so nobody else was hurt). Anyway, in the hospital they did a CT scan to look for internal injuries and other than the 9 broken ribs, she didn't have any internal injuries. But they did find a huge tumor in her lung. It's roughly 7cm x 9cm. Anyway, we finally got all the results back from the two biopsies they took, and she definitely has non-small cell carcinoma, of the Large cell variety. She had a PET scan on friday to determine how far it has spread so that they can come up with the options. She gets the results back tomorrow. I fear the worst based on the size of her tumor.

Well in addition to that, while she was in the hospital my dad found out he has intermeddiate stage prostate cancer, and he will be undergoing 9 straight weeks of radiation therapy. It's bad enough to have to deal with 1 person having cancer, but two is going to be very difficult. Anyway, we could really use some prayers. I'll try and update this thread as we get more information.

You guys are added to the prayer list. Hang in there, and think good thoughts. With the combination of prayer and the great advances in medical technology that have been made, there have been many recent breakthroughs in treatments and cures that are nothing short of miracles! :thumbs2:

We'll be praying for you and your family. Had a friend go through something similar in late '09 with his wife; they were both diagnosed with cancer within weeks of each other. He said the worst thing was being completely drained from the chemo, and feeling he wasn't there for his wife to lean on when she needed him most. I'm sure the feeling was reciprocal with her. They are both doing well today and, with God's blessing, we hope your parents will be also.

I would strongly suggest that you, at your age, hie yourself to your medical facility and have a thorough and in-depth check-up. Certain cancers are thought to be genetic and since both of your parents..er, uh...well, you know.

ITMT, good luck and God Bless to all of you.
