Because of that, someone called Round Rock police reporting a man with a gun inside the Dell Complex.

There was an internal promotional event to support a product launch. One of our team members made an unfortunate choice of wearing a black mask to work and frightened some Dell team members.

Is it a false report charge on the person who called LE and reported "man with a gun", but no gun?

I can't imagine a misdemeanor for wearing a ski mask to work if it was part of a planned event.. but.. I can't imagine lots of things that actually happen..

The video said the masked mas was charged with "deadly conduct" and the other was charged with "interfering with public duties"

How is wearing a black mask and black clothes "deadly conduct"? Whatever that means? I don't get it.

To be a false report charge, the person who called would have had to be intentionally be giving false information and know the person didn't have a gun. My guess is it was not intentional, but typical panic and overreaction to seeing a person in a ski mask on a warm day. People get ideas in their heads that are planted by television and movies, and when they see one part of an imagined scenario (i.e. a man with a ski mask aka bad guy), then their imagination automatically tells their psyche that a gun must exist.

And, there is no law against wearing a ski mask even in the middle of summer unless they can prove ill intent and that it was being worn in a manner to cause alarm (kinda like brandishing LOL), so that may be what they were charged with. I would think it would be disorderly conduct in this case.

I hope that no one gets procecuted for any crimes. In hindsight, it sounds like the guy used bad judgement, but he is probably just some marketing guy who to tried to do something different and got carried away. At any rate, he got more publicity that he expected.

Dell seems to do most of their business with companies rather than selling to individuals. They typically lease the computers from Dell rather than buy them. At the end of the lease [they are pretty much outdated] they buy them for pennies on the dollar or send them back to Dell.

I don't have any firsthand information about Dell other than I used their computers at work. The seemed to be okay, but I never had to deal with customer service or warranties. Our IT people took care of that.

It's interesting about Just Brakes. The BBB gives them an A- rating. It wasn't an "A" because they had 375 complaints filed against the business.
