MARBLES TRIALMAKER
Some Knives are in Limited Quantity Trailmaker The 10-inch Trailmaker is an awesome performer. It effortlessly severs a free-hanging two-inch manila rope in one quick stroke. The convex ground blade is hand honed to a razor edge that has to be used to be appreciated. Webster Marble was an experienced outdoorsman who enjoyed being in the field in very rough terrain. That would explain his proclivity towards large knives with 6, 7, 8 and 10-inch blades. He began production of the Model 56 Trailmaker with a 10-inch blade in late 1908 or early 1909. About 25,000 were made between 1909 and 1958, including some 7-inch versions during the 1950s. Virtually all of these were made with stacked leather and stag handles. The 10-inch Trailmaker is laser cut from solid bars of high carbon 5160 modified carbon steel and subjected to a complicated multi-step process for proper heat treat and temper. This costly process ensures maximum edge holding, removes all traces of brittleness for strength and minimizes warpage. The blade and handle were each lengthened one-quarter inch. We also lengthened the choil and ricasso. The most obvious change is the thicker guard. By today's standards, this is a massive knife. It was vital to choose an appropriate steel that would have excellent edge-holding properties and also be able to tolerate the side pressure strength of rough use in chopping tasks. You can use the Trailmaker to clear a trail, build a shelter, construct a blind, and cut firewood. Or, just enjoy the esthetic beauty of these impressive knives. Blade length: 10" Overall length:15-1/2" Rockwell: 58C Blade Material:Carbon Each knife includes a high quality, oiled leather safety sheath.
Very, very, unique design, coffin handle, and kinda on the scarce side...Handles are huge Natural Smooth Bone, in a coffin shape. Labor intensive & flawless. Held on with the old Marbles 4 pin construction
Retail priced $249 here.

Stupid that Texas calls this an "illegal knife". You can own it, you can't carry it.

I agree. Then again, probably not too practical to carry a knife that size even if it was legal. For some reason, I just like big knives.

I like the warning on the box: "Caution: Blade is Sharp"

Really? Its a knife.......

Warning: Coffee is hot

Warning: the sky is blue

I love warning and caution labels. I do in fact take them seriously, so please don't misinterpret this post, its just that some of them really amuse me....

At least it's not engraved on the side of the blade. ;-)

How about "This side towards enemy"?

I always thought that would be cool on a Claymore sword.

Thanks ml1209 for a great transaction!

And for the record, the blade is razor sharp on this knife.
