Japan Tragedy

Hi Guys. I wanted to share a Facebook comment from my son who is a US Sailor living in Japan. His ship is currently off the coast of Japan performing search and rescue.

"this is so saddening, seeing all of this stuff out here. just makes me glad my family is safe. i saw a stuffed teddy bear float by today, i cried. its so sad"

Every time I turn on the news...it just seems to get worse for them.

A 9.0 Earth Quake, followed by a Tsunami, followed by the Nuclear Reactor problems, followed by freezing weather, rain and snow. In some places there is no food, no water, no shelter, no heat, no help.

Sheeesh....what is next, a plague of locusts?

I really feel sorry for those affected. Please donate what you can to the American Red Cross.

Well we've had a long run without too many problems.

I find it EXTREMELY strange that at this point (a week after the quake), nobody is reporting radiation levels at any of the troubled reactors... They MUST know by now... Why the secrecy? And why isn't anyone in the MSM asking?

It may be the same line that they use in every disaster and alien invasion movie -"We don't want people to panic".

This tragedy will affect Japan for a very long time. I heard on the radio today that they have lost 20% of their electricity generation capacity. The impact on their economy will reverberate worldwide. The input on their psyches, who knows. Japan needs a lot of our prayers right now.

The Japanese people are very resilient. It may take a while, but they will recover.

It is sobering to see one of the most advanced and sophisticated countries in the world be shaken to it's knees like this. The man-made disaster is more devastating than the natural one. Japan needs our prayers and gifts. But for the grace of God that could be us.

I believe that the Japanese are more aware and prepared for these types of disasters than we are in the United States. Their death toll and injuries would have been much worse if not for their planning and training.

Coincidently, I just read a book about an American who taught English in Japan in a city near a nuclear power plant. In the book she describes the routine testing of their emergency evacuation loud speakers by playing music. The government also supplied potassium iodide pills to people living near-by so they would have them immediately available in case of a radiation leak.
