Mayor Daley let the contract run out on the previous Superintendent (Former FBI agent Jody Weis, known as J-Fled by those who did not like him, which apparently was most of the police department, and eventually, Mayor Daley) without asking him to stay on until the new Mayor (one alleged resident of Chicago, Rahm Emanual) takes office in May. There is an interim Superintendent right now.
Although Rahm has pretty much indicated who he wants for Superintendent (a former CPD bigshot who left Chicago when Daley picked J-Fled instead of him), Chicago will at least go thru the motions of having a competitive selection. If you are interested you can pick up an application here: http://www.cityofchicago.org/content/da ... nFinal.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Be sure and get it in by April 11.
There is one very interesting question on the application, which is why I bothered with this post.
"Have you ever invoked your Fifth Amendment Right against making any self-incriminating statements during any judicial proceedings, grand jury testimony, deposition, or law enforcement investigation?" This requires a separate signature. If yes, you have to explain.
I have done a fair amount of job interviews, as the interviewer, but it never occurred to me to ask that particular question. Maybe this is common to the police world?
Or maybe just to the Chicago world...
