We should've taken care of him the first time around...France and military action. Never thought I'd see those in the same sentence.

Did France surrender yet?

Actually, the large air base in Djibouti is owned and operated by the French, and hosts units from other countries. Amazing that they take this action now, by not during the Sudanese genocide. :grumble

When you say "ugly" do you mean in contrast to all the previous "pretty" wars?

Simply more death and destruction with no clear mendate. Unless whoever voted for the UN resolution, sent money, weapons and "advisors" to aid the rebels It could be too late if there is no will fight anymore.

Oh, they'll have the will, or else there will be a mass exodus with government attacks on the retreating rear. Quaddafi just now stated, "No mercy" for Benghazi civilians.

Can you show me where he said there was no mercy for civilians? Because everything I read says:
Colonel Muammar Gaddafi has warned Libyan rebels in their stronghold of Benghazi that his forces are coming and there would be no mercy for those who fight them.
and
"for those who resist there will be no mercy or compassion"

Here's one from today, from http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/03/ ... 4Q20110318:
Members of the Libyan government issued an ultimatum to the citizens of Benghazi warning that all civilians must leave the areas which they plan to attack," Moreno-Ocampo said in a short statement read out to the press.
That, together with the "no mercy" statement, seems pretty clear, even for Quaddafi (who has always lived by the "implied threat"). It's essentially a threat to hit the entire city, bar none. Seems to me he's done just this in the past, but not so clearly in the world spotlight.

Why does the USA have to get involved? We're broke and it's not like Daffy is invading USA.
I believe the basic political division in this country is not between liberals and conservatives but between those who believe that they should have a say in the personal lives of strangers and those who do not.

Just like under Bush, the anti-war protesters will be out in the streets soon, just like they have been for the last two years under the current administration. Oh wait, I got that wrong. Where did they all go after Bush left office?

The Party of Hate seems to have found a different (Daffy) target since then....
