Monday morning on the way to work (early to get a head start on the day), I was rear-ended by an F150 pickup.... well, my early day, now was going to start an hour late!..
Details of the accident aren't important, other than no injuries, except possibly my wallet, as the guy who hit me is apparently uninsured..... but thats another story in itself.
The Constable showed up to do the report, asked for ID's from us, I handed her both of my ID's, she barely glanced at my CHL, said "I dont need that" and handed it back. Never a second thought.
I thought that was pretty good. Not a bit of concern on her face or her emotions.

Sorry about your problem. I was curious about what happened to the guy that was uninsured. In the Dallas area, the car is normally towed to an impound lot and the only way to get it back is with proof of insurance.
Texas (DPS) now has an active campaign which matches insurance and registration. I haven't had to show my insurance card with any of my recent re-registrations. It would be interesting to know how this guy slipped through those cracks - or perhaps he didn't have a valid registration either.
It is interesting to see the various reactions of LEOs when the CHL ID is presented. The cavalier approach like your Constable had surprises me a bit. You'd think they would at least want to know if you were carrying. Perhaps, she simply assumed that you were and wasn't worried about it. That says a lot about the reputation of CHLs among the LE community.

I was released before him, and I think he was released to drive away when it was all said. I do not agree with that, but that is the impression I got. In this case, he had the insurance forms, but not the card as "proof" and the Constables could not verify it through their system either.chasfm11 wrote: I was curious about what happened to the guy that was uninsured.
He is the one who called me later that day to explain that his "wife changed the insurance the week earlier, but did not insure this vehicle"
He has offered to pay for the repairs, but lets see if he holds that true after I give him the estimate.

Good luck with the repairs. Just like our guns, I think our cars are our babies, our special toys. I know I am protective and partial to mine.
