30.06 Signs Posted At Shoe Level
Several places I have seen in various Texas cities have been posting 30.06 signs at shoe level. Some have been of legal size and language, others have been printed out on 8 1/2 x 11 copy paper. Does anybody have thoughts on if this is a conspicuous 30.06 posting.

Hey Sl Dave. I grew up in Sugar Creek. The AMC theater is one of these places right?
The law is clear about the sizing. The "conspicuous" view is the tricky part.
I usually carry the first time if it doesn't meet my interpretation of the law but then I never go back.

Re: 30.06 Signs Posted At Shoe Level
The AMC Theater posts at shoe level on most, but not all, of their doors, 1/4" lettering. I have seen some hotels and retail stores post correct signs at shoe level, even when there was no other sign to force it to that position. One place even hid it partially behind a planter. I'm not quite sure that I have been given proper notice if I have to get down on my belly to be near eye level to the sign.G192627 wrote:Hey Sl Dave. I grew up in Sugar Creek. It doesn't matter which level it's on if the letters are only 1/4". Carry away.
Carrying since 02/06/2009.

I felt no compulsion to correct the management. I do not get paid to do their job.

True enough... but for some reason, everytime I go to Walmart night here, I will see half a dozen midgets with tatoos... not joking!Oldgringo wrote:Isn't everything supposed to be bigger in Texas?wgoforth wrote:Maybe they are worried about midget gangsters?

It's referred to as the "Weiner-dog sign". If you're taller than a weiner-dog, you can't see it!

My thought is that if you saw the sign then it is conspicous. If the DA really wanted to press charges, he would do so.sugar land dave wrote:Several places I have seen in various Texas cities have been posting 30.06 signs at shoe level. The ones that may not meet being conspicuous are the signs behind super dark tinted glass and obscured by plants etc. If you see it - - - it applies to you - - - providing all other criteria are met.

I agree. My point is that it would be hard for a person to say he should not be charged because he saw the sign, but another people may not have seen it.MoJo wrote:The ones that may not meet being conspicuous are the signs behind super dark tinted glass and obscured by plants etc. If you see it - - - it applies to you - - - providing all other criteria are met.WildBill wrote:My thought is that if you saw the sign then it is conspicous.
