Post by teraph »

I have a line on a mauser 98k chambered in .308 for bout 400-450. I haven't had the opportunity to shoot it yet, but i do need a little help deciding if its a good deal or not. Anyone have any experience with one?

I have a couple of Turk Mausers in 8mm, but haven't gotten them into shooting shape yet.

I did see some 98K's at the gun show last weekend. They were going for about 1/2 of the one you are looking at.

I might pay that for a 7.92mm 98k depending on conditions but no way for a modified one.

If it's 7.62 it may be one of the Israeli conversions. Back in the early days of Israel they converted alot of K98's too 7.62. I would be interested in knowing what kind of markings it had on it. As for the price, if it's a Isreali conversion, I would prob. pay a premium for it, but thats just me.
