Michelle Obama visit collides with campus carry bill

I just saw this article it's posted about 48 minutes ago today. Two of the senators that would vote no on SB 354 may not be present to see the first lady allowing Sen Wentworth to bring up the bill again for a vote and get the two thirds majority. This is if they actually do leave. Let's cross out fingers :shock:

Reading the whole article, it sounds like Van de Putte and West are staying at the Capitol and bemoaning their missed opportunity to shake hands with royalty ... err, I mean, a Democrat first lady.

I sure hope this isn't the only ace card Wentworth has to play. :roll:

Probably a non-story by the end of the day.

Did like Whitmire's refusal to flip his vote to a "no" to maintain the status quo as suggested by Dewhurst.
Sen. John Whitmire, D-Houston, said Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst suggested that Whitmire might vote “no” to maintain the status quo until West and Van de Putte could return.

“I’m not going to do that,” Whitmire said. “I’m not going to flip-flop around here like that. … This isn’t a carnival. This is the Texas Senate.”

We wouldn't want to give carnivals a bad name.
[Insert pithy witicism here]

New plan.

1. Get the flu
2. Go visit capital
3. Make sure to shake hands with the antis
4. Pass Campus Carry bill while they're out sick.

So if some commoner is purposely trying to infect me with a disease, am I allowed to pull my gun and tell him to back off? If he doesn't, can I shoot him? I mean, I carry a gun at my job because the law allows it and because all those diseased peasants in the gallery just scare me. But I'm important enough to NEED a gun.

@austinreator

I suppose you could claim that it was a domestic terrorist biological warfare attack and that you acted in self defense. :biggrinjester:

We just have to be patient and hope that logic prevails.
