Wimberley bed and breakfast.. what to do in Wimberley?

Post by 68Charger »

So my gf and I are going to Wimberley for a bed & breakfast.. thing. I have never been to that neck of the woods nor do I know what to do there. It's purdy much in the middle of nowhere. No idea what to do. I don't even know if they have TV there. Sigh..

Any feedback appreciated. Even that that feedback says 'don't go..' :grumble

The wife and I spent our first anniversary in Wimberly. If you like swimming go to Blue Hole. If you want some good BBQ go to the Salt Lick in Driftwood. Its right up the road from Wimberly. Be prepared for a wait though. Also, if you enjoy a cold adult beverage you can bring in a cooler with your favorite brand. If your into scenic drives check out the Devils Backbone. There is an outdoor movie theater there as well that I missed when I was there. Its not a drive in. Its an outdoor theater with metal chairs and one screen. The town square is nice and has some decent shops. The folks were really nice and we plan on going back sometime. There is a big flea market type event there I believe once a month. I would recommend finding out when it is and not being there while that is going on. Have a good time!

Wow, thanks guys. Something to do. I decided to bring my BB gun because I'll be staying at some lodge/suite type place out there. Might get bored and want to shoot some cans. :fire

Looks like a lot of traveling coming from San Antonio. Gas prices aren't the nicest either. If anyone can lend me their truck and about $1,000 for gas, I'd appreciate it. :tiphat:

Heading out this Sat and staying to Monday. I need a bit of a vacation.

Again, thanks fellas.

If your GF is taking you to a B&B in the middle of "nowhere" I'm guessing that "Romance" and not "BB Gun" would be the "thing to do"....
It's Hill Country... Plan a hike... Picnic... Smell the Flowers..
Check out the Texas Hill country Wine Tour for some kid-free fun.. http://wimberleywinetours.com/?page_id=92" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Think "Romance", not "Bromance" ... Relax, have fun.. Try not to dread it before you get there.

Take her hand in hand to every little shop in Wimberly. Shop shop and more shop. Don't stay outside with your smart phone and write emails. Stay with her and examine everything she wants to look at. Be sure to buy her some of the things she finds. Then a romantic dinner at one of the many fine restaurants in Wimberly. Then time for bed.
If there is a TV unplug it. Most BandB's don't have TV's.

Next morning a nice breakfast at the BandB, then a day trip to the outlet mall in San Marcos for more shopping.

Have fun.

I bought the hat in my avatar from an antique store just off the Wimberly town square. Nice little town.

Saw a few hats in those stores when I was there that I wanted but couldn't decide on one so I blew it off. However, the wife found her one of those cowgirl straw hats when we were there.

I'm thinking 68charger's absence is either really good or really bad. Hopefully the girlfriend didn't leave him there and he is currently still walking home!

I'm pretty sure Blue Hole is currently closed due to them putting in concrete walkways. :cryin Also, the season doesn't start until Memorial Day anyway. No one's guarding the entrance, and I saw some tourists while playing an epic series of beer pong games on the other side on Saturday.

I know it's a bit late, but Jacob's Well is a nice spot to visit as well. :tiphat:

Thanks again for the recommendations. I stayed for 3 days, 2 nights. Was awesome. We didn't do much at all. We went shopping at their square place and got a few things there. We had a HUGE suite out in the middle of nowhere (where I"m assuming most of y'all are from ;)) I enjoyed it. I'll post some pics of our room. We got it on groupon for like 200 bucks, for a 600 room (2 nights, too). Their breakfast at the door was some of the best breakfast I have ever tasted, too. I first thought they were just going to give us some bacon, eggs, whatever a normal breakfast is. No, they put a lot of thought and prepared it VERY well. Never had such a good breakfast.

All in all, 9/10. Would be 10/10 if it weren't for the bloody weather. :)

Again, thanks.

If you go the the Salt Lick in Driftwood for BBQ, make sure you take cash - they don't take CC's or checks. Right now we got a pretty good (according to the radio) massive wild fire going on with some homes already destroyed. As the Gov said, pray for rain for Tejas.
