Walmart is acused of intent to spread violence.
Walmart is now accused of having the intention to spread violence, at least indirectly.

...violence comes from the heart...and not from a stick, rock, knife, gun, or any other inanimate object...
...the ones who're complaining are SUPPOSED to be dealing with the hearts...and if they were doing a better job instead of trying to put the blame on inanimate objects...violence might really be reduced...it's not those full of the joy of the Lord and the love of God for fellow man who misuse objects like guns to create violence....these guys are kinda like a religious version of the Brady bunch...
...glad Wallyworld's decided to get back in the business of giving customers more of what we want...

What makes him think that Walmart should have to ask them what they sell in their stores?Tatum said ... "They didn't ask us, but we're encouraging people not to buy the guns."

I wonder what them folks would say about my idea that ICE should set up shop at the entrance to various Walmart locations.

We normally do not shop at Walmart. However, I just fired off a letter to Walmart applauding their decision!

Like most do-gooders (of any political stripe) they are the self-appointed conscious of all people and, therefore, should at least be consulted in any weighty matter.WildBill wrote:What makes him think that Walmart should have to ask them what they sell in their stores?Tatum said ... They tend to make me sick.

I guess they have never heard the phrase 'Don't bite the hand that feeds you' Walmart is one of their sponsors http://www.sclcnational.org/item/3055" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
And, reaading their pages seems to me they are a very liberal left wing type of movement, so it is not suprising they are anti-gun.

I don't want to be too cynical, but Walmart has probably lost a lot of business to their competitors because they didn't sell guns. I am sure that their decision was based purely on sales dollars.

...Walmart has been like a screen door with a broken spring...they posted 30.06...then they took 'em down...then they don't sell guns anymore(in most stores)...then they do...seems like their lawyers and their beancounters are strugglin' with each other...wish they'd make up their cotton-pickin' minds...
Re: Walmart is acused of intent to spread violence.
I have not been in a WalMart that didn't sell guns and ammunition. I do remember when K-Mart stopped selling guns. I also do not remember any of the several WalMarts I have been in ever having a 30.06 sign up. How quick did they go up and then come down?speedsix wrote:...Walmart has been like a screen door with a broken spring...they posted 30.06...then they took 'em down...then they don't sell guns anymore(in most stores)...then they do...seems like their lawyers and their beancounters are strugglin' with each other...wish they'd make up their cotton-pickin' minds...

Funny, I don't remember Rev. Tatum being quoted as trying to remove the ILLEGAL sources of guns in Ft. Worth. I guess they are still OK for him."Walmart had appeared to be a responsible corporate entity, but I guess with the recession they're trying to find any way feasibly possible... but at what expense?" asked Rev. Kyev Tatum, who heads the Fort Worth chapter of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference.
I don't know about spreading violence but Wal-Mart sure is responsible for attracting a lot of guns. If Rev. Tatum had any idea how many Wally Walks have taken place, he probably have a coronary.

...when CHL first passed...ours was posted correctly...it lasted a few months...then came down...they quit selling guns at a lot of them last year or the one before...right after they had the Stainless Rugers made for them...big thing on the net about it and only a few rural ones kept selling long guns...the ones around south Dallas haven't had guns for at least 2 years...we'd roam between about 6 to get enough ammo...none of them had long guns anymore...C-dub wrote:I have not been in a WalMart that didn't sell guns and ammunition. ...I remember Kmart stopping them, too...why, who knows...
...my favorite pawn shop chain cut down from every store to just one in Dallas and one in Arlington, I think...we used to sell them in our local hardware stores, back in the day...when life was easier...if Walmart would get serious, I think they could outsell Academy...their prices were always better...

Most urban Walmarts I have shopped in don't sell guns but do sell ammo.C-dub wrote:I have not been in a WalMart that didn't sell guns and ammunition.

I don't get into a WalMart as much any more. I used to live less than a mile from one, but now I'm about 6-7 miles from one. I'll have to look the next time I'm in there. The one close to me also got rid of their fabric section. Last time my daughter had a school project she needed fabric for I went there first and ended up at Hobby Lobby. Making room for bigger isles has them cutting back on stock.
I think K-Mart stopped selling guns and ammunition after Columbine, when the anti-gun lobby pressured them.
