Charlie Sheen

Post by puma guy »

I could care less about Charlie Sheen but he claims that a shooting incident in 1990 when his fiance was shot was her fault not his. He claims she picked up his trousers that had a revolver in the pocket. The revolver dropped to the floor and discharged. Other than and SA with no hammer block I don't know of a revolver that will allow nthe hammer to make primer contact without the trigger depressed. Am I full of it or misinformed?

Article just says pistol - no designated type. I am asking purely about a revolver and I guess I'm making an assumption Charlie wasn't carrying a SAA style.

This article says "tiny revolver":

Also, there is a bit of profanity in this article.

We don't know what Charlie had, but like I said I doubt it was a single action army style pistol. "Tiny Revolver" is subjective though it's still a revolver. A "J" frame is tiny compared to a .50 Cal S&W. The accidental shooting in the restaurant from the dropped pistol was a Derringer which most often is one or two shot and I don't know if they have any sort of block or gap to prevent discharge from a blow to the hammer. All the revolvers I've handled (save for old style Ruger SA and Colt and copies) have to have the trigger depressed to allow the firing pin to strike the primer. When you release the trigger after firing the hammer moves back via a blocking mechanism. Without the trigger pulled - no contact. Any experts want to weigh in? When I first read this what came to mind is all the myths involved with firearms around dropped weapons and how often it's used an an excuse for a shooting. Among the many fantasies and lies Charlie Sheen has spun/is spinning it just irks me he thinks people are so dumb and ill advised as to believe him.
