The destroyer USS Michael Murphy was launched today at the Bath Iron Works in Maine. Lt. Murphy is a Medal of Honor recipient who was killed in Afghanistan in 2005. His mother christened the ship on what would have been his 35th birthday.
The USS Michael Murphy is a fitting tribute to the man and his courage.
The Navy SEALs operation which lead to Lt. Michael Murphy's Medal of Honor is described in the book "Lone Survivor", written by Maruc Luttrell. It's a good read.

...would recommend that anyone going to the Middle East in service read it first...good insight as to how "they" think...and will help "us" realize things we've prolly never been exposed to over here...

..."they" are the Islamic radicals...and Afghanistan is considered part of the Greater Middle East...if you really want to be that picky...but I betcha most folks clearly understood what I meant...and got the point I was making...
...just can't let it alone, can you??? what gives with picking my post apart??? read it for yourself...and I'm sorry I intruded on your post...I thought the whole idea was to honor a Navy Seal and his story...what a shame...
...I didn't enter one single word about politics...and his life was given in the war that is all about "us" versus "them"...and he'd be proud to know that the experiences in the book his pal wrote about him helped other soldiers be more prepared...I've personally got two sons who swear by what they read in there and encourage everyone going over to read it...the book had a great deal to do with his being honored by the ship, raising the nation's awareness...there was no call for you to pick and poke at my post like you did...THAT's where we got off-track...you'd rather criticize like an ex-wife than let others have their say...and then you want to make like it's MY fault...no sale...

Speedsix,
I actually agree with you. I think a certain personage is simply being cranky, but I won't go that way because I am a nice guy.
Speedsix,
I dread wading through your posts. Why do you link all of your thoughts with an ellipsis?

...I don't know...always have...I write like I think and talk...in bursts...sorry it bothers you...you're the third complaint in ten years...but I respect your opinion...(Nothing I said reflected on your "the best part?" that was purely humorous...) you can put it to a poll and if it bothers more than not...I'll bust my butt to re-train and stop it...fair enough? No hard feelings...
