Wanted to Rent NEV for 2 Weeks

Post by steveincowtown »

I know it is a long shot, but I figured I would put it out there. Are there any members in the DFW area that are either NEV (Neighborhood Electric Vehicle) dealers or have one that they would be willing to rent? My girlfriend and I are pretty sure that we want to purchase one, but I want to make sure she is comfortable with it before we drop $6000-$10000.

I am willing to pay a reasonable amount for the rental, can pick it up myself, and will deliver it back to you cleaner then when I picked it up.

Just thought I would try...

You can get a used electric golf cart a lot cheaper and it should be allowed under the specifications of the legal requirements to drive a NEV.

Also, although it is a long shot as you say,........it's even longer without knowing where you are located. But with a screen name such as yours...I assume Ft. Worth?

DFW Area... The problem with a reg Golf Cart is...

"Registration is not needed to operate your golf cart on a public road. State law allows for use of golf carts with a slow-moving vehicle emblem in the following situations:

* in master planned communities with a uniform set of restrictive covenants in place,
* on public or private beaches,
* during the daytime and no more than two miles from where the owner usually parks the golf cart and for transportation to or from a golf course, or
* to cross intersections, including a road or street that has a posted speed limit of more than 35 miles per hour."

I'd like to be able to go slightly further than 2 miles from the house...

Point taken.

Out here in the Country, 2 miles is a bit further than in a City.
