Los Angeles: Suit filed to use VA facility for veterans

Post by seamusTX »

In Los Angeles today a class action lawsuit was filed in U.S. district court on behalf of four disabled homeless vets, the Vietnam Veterans of America, and other parties over the use of a VA facility there.

The 387-acre facility comprising over 100 buildings was donated to the federal government by a family in 1888 to provide a home for veterans in perpetuity. It is still a VA hospital, but used mostly for short-term treatment.

Much of the facility is now leased by businesses and used for other purposes that have nothing to do with caring for veterans.

I don't know much about L.A., but half a square mile on Wilshire Boulevard there must be hugely valuable.
